The Strategy does not define cultural heritage, it however refers to the following: (1) Inclusion of cultural heritage in tourism offer, (2) integrated conservation and sustainable use of cultural heritage, in particular in protected areas and the so-called areas of national identity, (3) restoration of cultural heritage in order to ensure successful tourist valorisation of cultural heritage, (4) integration of cultural heritage, natural values and authentic tourism products and services in the integrated tourism products, especially in the segment of wellness tourism, (5) observance of and respect for the cultural values (identity) of the destination, diminishing the negative effects of mass tourism.

Responsible

Ministry of the Economy and its Directorate of Tourism, along with interdepartmental cooperation in the field of culture, sport, transport, environment, health, training and education. Expert Panel on Tourism, which serves as a professional - consultative body within the Ministry, the Tourist Association of Slovenia, Slovenian Tourist Board, National Tourist Association, Association for Hospitality and Tourism at the Economic Chamber of Slovenia, Section for Hospitality and Tourism at the Chamber of Craft Slovenia, various interest groups and tourist clusters (national level); regional tourism association and Community of Julian Alps (regional level); tourism associations, municipal tourism associations, local tourist boards (local level).

Strengths

Stresses the importance of cultural heritage, defining it as one of main strengths of Slovenia as a tourism destination. Focuses on preservation, restoration of cultural heritage and its integration in tourism products. And sets a model for renovation, valorisation and marketing of cultural heritage in Slovenia, determining the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders.

Weaknesses

The instrument does not define cultural heritage per se, only list elements of cultural heritage present in Slovenia. The list does not refer to intangible cultural heritage.
