SY_CULTour: Bilateral Exchange Italy-Slovenia
22 participants from Črni Vrh above Idrija (SY_CULTour pilot area) and three participants from Anton Melik Geographical Institute ZRC SAZU experienced hospitality in the Peio valley.
Early on Friday morning the group started its journey in Črni Vrh and set out for Trentino where they admired the city centre with a castle. Afterwards, the excursion continued to Peio. Firstly, the group was hosted by Olga Casanova at her herb farm where they were acquainted with various herbs and their uses. Despite at the end of May, Friday was snowy and homemade herbal tea, which followed the visit, really gladdened the group. They also visited roe deer farm and local cheese dairy. After delightful dinner they were greeted by local authorities.
The second day was dedicated to flax farming, its processing and weaving, all presented by “Ecomuseum Seat”. At the end of the Slovenian visit, hospitable locals offered delicious lunch. Slovenes are enthusiastic about locals who are experts in working together with the aim of reaching the common goal.
Grateful for received flax seeds, visitors from Črni vrh already have plans for seeding it soon in Slovenia. Favourably impressed by Italian rural areas’ good practices of innovative sustainable development, the group returned home with nice memories late at night.
