Short description of our organisation and our role in the project:
The Union of Young Farmers (PENA) is a Pan-Hellenic private entity established by the Greek Parliament to support the young farmers (18 to 40 years old). It is a recognised institution at the Ministry for Rural Development and Food and therefore realises the potential and added value of cultural values in agro tourism. PENA was established at the Young Farmers and Culture Conference in 2010.
PENA wishes to participate in the development of a common model with guidelines for how to manage cultural values in rural tourism so as to generate income and jobs.
SY_CULTour project will provide important information, guidelines and recommendations upon which PENA will gain important data and expert material which will be of great value for policy making processes in which it cooperates. Since the project builds on the inclusion of stakeholders into the development of less favoured rural areas, PENA will gain important experience from practice which will be used for drafting future policies in the field of developing less favoured rural areas and rural tourism. It will present project results to the responsible ministry and influence the changes of relevant policy documents according to its possibilities. It will also give recommendations for improvement of the common methodology, the virtual chamber operational plan and the action plans for the two Greek pilot areas.
